Department of Mechanical Engineering
The Department has a good team of highly qualified, experienced and dedicated Teaching and Non-Teaching staff where the average age of the faculty is 30 years. The department is well equipped with state-of-the-art equipments to impart adequate practical training to the students. The department has a library which has a good collection of books, handbooks, national and international journals and magazines in addition to those available in the central library. Students are provided with Internet facility and Digital library facility.
The department apart form imparting quality technical education also is keen to participate in research and development activities. The department has a R&D wing which is recognized by the VTU, Belgaum to carryout research activities leading to M.Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering. Under the Staff development program the staff members are encouraged to periodically attend refresher courses to keep themselves abreast of the latest technologies and upgrade their skills. The department which now has its intake enhanced to 90, encourages its students to take up projects on latest areas and technologies. The department in order to utilize the rich experience and expertise of the eminent personalities in the area of Mechanical Engineering has set-up two clubs, namely the Xergy and the Urja club, under the auspices of which technical talks / lectures are organized for the benefit of the students and the staff as well.
